I know that it is the dead of winter and that spring is the last thing on your mind, but it’s actually right around the corner. If you are thinking of selling your home this spring, there are a few things you can do now to get your home ready for the market.

First of all, speak with a lender or financial planner to make sure that everything is in order in terms of finances. That way, you will know what you can afford in terms of your next home as well as how the sale of your current home will affect you.

Next, check in with a real estate agent to figure out the value of your home. The agent will also tell you a few things you can do to your property to increase its value and improve its chances of selling.

In terms of preparing the home itself, make sure you declutter. Put things in storage that you won’t need for awhile. Paint or at least touch up the paint around the wood trim and baseboards.
Take care of the interior of your home now before the spring market arrives.
I also recommend that you order a pre-inspection before your home hits the market. Have a home inspector or contractor look at the property. You may also want to consider a termite or moisture inspection. When you get the inspection report back, you can take care of items that need to be repaired before the home hits the market, improving your home value and making your home more appealing to buyers.

So, if you take care of the interior of the property while it’s still cold outside, once spring comes around all you have to do is clean up the yard and you’re ready to sell. If you have any other questions about the upcoming spring market, just give me a call. I would be happy to help you!
